Deleting application data / cache from other app

2 posts in this topic

Hi,

Was trying to make a app that could delete some xml files in /data/data/packagename/shared_prefs. It did somehow work (or it didn't). Before depolying my app I wanted to test it one more time because it didn't properly work. The target application started to act up a little wierd. Found out it doesn't even find the file? The file is for sure there it just fails to delete / edit.

Yes the phone is rooted, apps and adb have root. I read online that uhm this can only be achieved with system permissions for the application that tried to delete/write those files.

But if that's true, how can a application like CheatDroid then delete those while running as a normal application on a rooted phone?

Do I miss a step here?
